About

Meet Pam

During my 34 year career as a Casualty Adjuster, I secured well in excess of 10,000 in-person recorded statements. In the early 90’s, I became fascinated with the Cognitive Interview Technique after taking a weeklong training course facilitated by two retired RCMP officers.

On my first day back to work after that course concluded, I was assigned a claim where a woman was being sued by her next-door neighbor for installing a French Drain in her back yard. If anyone reading this is asking “what is a French drain?”, you aren’t alone. I didn’t have a clue. And, there was no Google Search engine back then. So I trusted the skills I had just learned in my course. I met with the homeowner and 12 handwritten pages later, I knew more about French Drains than I ever needed. The thing is, I didn’t need to know everything before the meeting, I just needed to know how to ask the questions during the interview. I was hooked!!!

Over the next 20 years, I used and perfected this technique which encourages the person being interviewed to do most of the talking. Our list of prepared questions is merely a starting point. The real magic happens when we train ourselves to listen. When you master this technique, you may find that the generic list of questions you prepared isn’t even needed. After all, who knows more about their own journey – you, or the person you are interviewing.

Let’s work together!
